The Spoiled Princess X The Scheming Hostage Prince

A Disfigured Princess and a Scheming Hostage Prince: A Deadly Redemption Amid Blood-Stained Political Intrigue

“She was branded as a sacrificial offering, yet became the fire phoenix that overturned imperial power.”

On a winter night in the fourth year of Yonghui, the moon is swallowed by a celestial hound. Li Zhaoyang, an abandoned girl raised at a Taoist temple, is forcibly summoned back to the palace and turned into a sacrificial bride in place of her twin sister. A bowl of poison destroys half her face. The empress dowager sneers, “You were born to be a vessel for calamity.” But no one knows she has a snow lotus hidden in her sleeve: a talisman her mother left to keep her alive, and the spark of her revenge.

“The hostage prince cages me in a golden cage, never knowing I was born to be a fire that burns down cities.” The sickly hostage prince Xiao Che coughs blood and smiles, as sulfur powder drifts from his fingertips. He watches Zhaoyang tear her wedding dress to pieces in defiance, yet secretly brings her a scroll of the Yuwen family’s secrets. “Shall we make a deal? I’ll help you slay the gods, and you’ll help me tear down this imperial rule.”

When poisoned needles in an embroidered shoe expose the truth of their blood pact, and mirrored scars resonate at the sacrificial altar in the imperial mausoleum, in the blue light of a false resonance, she sees the prisoner’s mark on his shoulder blade and hears her sister scream from within the soul-locking array: “Elder Sister, we were born to be each other’s chains...”

“Either rot in the depths of the palace as a sacrificial offering, or take up a blade and rewrite fate, ”

“I choose the latter.”
