[An ancient-era disaster tale, realistic survival, an ensemble family story, and a heroine with no golden finger]
In the seventeenth year of the Jingtai era of the Great Jing dynasty, the sky fell.
Snow fell in June, and the earth shook. A thousand miles of land dried up, then floods surged across the world. Locusts swept through, leaving not a blade of grass behind. Sixteen-year-old Liu Ya’er led her entire family on a three-thousand-mile journey south in search of survival.
Her father was a slow-witted farmer, her mother a loud-voiced penny-pincher, her grandfather could read the weather, and her grandmother knew folk remedies. Her eight-year-old brother only knew how to eat and cause trouble. She had no golden finger and no powerful benefactors. All she had were eyes that could see through everything and one stubborn belief: if you’re alive, you have to keep moving toward a way to survive.
On snowy nights, she hid her body heat beneath the ice. In the ruins, she dug out food. In the drought-stricken fields, she followed the reeds to find water. During the locust plague, she used ancient fire tactics. Before the floodwaters came, she raced to higher ground. They crossed the Taihang Mountains and the Yellow River, traversed scorched earth, and forded the Huai River. Some died along the way, some betrayed their companions, and some gave their lives to save others.
After they crossed the Huai, the quiet young hunter Gu Changfeng joined their group. He didn’t know he was descended from a disgraced official. He only wanted to protect the girl with the brightest eyes.
Later, they put down roots on the southern coast, making salt, harvesting pearls, and brewing sauces. When a typhoon destroyed everything, she said only four words: “We’ll build it again.” From a refugee girl to a businesswoman, she always held to one rule: never profit from disaster.
The road was long, and the weather was bitterly cold. But as long as you kept walking, you were still alive.
Many years later, someone asked her how she had made it three thousand miles. She replied, “You keep walking, and a road appears.”
Disasters cannot take away this truth: people’s roots aren’t in the ground beneath their feet, but in the people beside them. As long as your loved ones are there, wherever you go becomes home.
It's really good. There are no cheats, no aboriginals, no time travel, no over-level challenges, one step at a time, no exaggeration, and no watering down. I have read the entire book. It has been a long time since I read a book that I can read the entire book. This book has a low score because it has no traffic and no reviews. In fact, the writing is really good. I rarely finish reading this book. I have finished reading this one. The description of natural disasters is also quite optimistic and objective. It is not exaggerated or trivial. I only recommend three books on Escape from Famine, Mountain Mountain, Ye Qingzhu, and this article.
Home is not a place, but a group of people. As long as the family is together, anywhere is home. On the way to escape, "home" changed from a house to a cart, and from a cart to a group of people traveling together. Natural disasters are not punishments or tests, they just happen. Nature does not care about the joys and sorrows of human beings, but humans can learn to understand the laws of nature, seek advantages and avoid disadvantages
The writing was very nice, and I was very moved in the later stages, especially when several people were gone and I burst into tears. But in the end, Agui was not written much about it. The ending should also include Agui, and there was no mention of returning to the island. I think I should go back to the island to have a look.
This book is written realistically, there is no cheating, space, I like it
After seeing it so far, I think the writing is good and the characters are quite distinct. Give it 5 stars for encouragement.
This is the most realistic natural disaster escape story I have ever read. Come on~
The writing is very good and delicate, worth reading
I have been a bookworm for more than ten years. I have finished reading this book. I am surprised that there is no rating. It is at least 9.2. It is really good to read. The plot is not exaggerated and the characters are very vivid.
Looking forward to the author's next work
Nice! A unique and novel opening! The whole process is high-pitched and fascinating to watch!
