Outlaw Reborn: My Century-Spanning Career of Plunder

Chen Mo is an overworked nobody whose prospects have gone nowhere. While browsing an antiques market with the modest aim of buying a dashcam, he comes across a vintage-style phone called “Sha Niu 2000.” He discovers by accident that it is a time-travel device from the year 2187, capable of opening portals to any period in history.

Chen Mo tries to transmigrate to Shanghai in 1923, where he is stunned by the splendor and chaos of this Paris of the East. He witnesses firsthand the foreign powers' bullying of China and the hardships endured by ordinary people.

He also unexpectedly discovers that a huge quantity of gold is stored in the underground vault of HSBC on Shanghai's Bund. The idea of stealing it to support the resistance against Japan takes root, and he begins carefully planning his time-travel mission.
