Mei Yi Talks Chinese History (Complete 9-Volume Set, Revised Collector’s Edition)

Mei Yi Talks About Chinese History is a classic popular history series that Mei Yi spent ten years completing. It begins with the Qin and Han dynasties, spans the Jin, Northern and Southern Dynasties, Sui and Tang, Song, Liao, Jin and Xia, and Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties, and ends with the Xinhai Revolution, covering nearly every generation. Grounding his work in historical fact and centering it on heroic figures, Mei Yi carries forward the tradition of historical literature pioneered by the Grand Historian and its spirit of judging historical events. He follows the structural craft and vivid storytelling of historical novelists, while drawing on the techniques of essayists and novelists in capturing details and conveying impressions, bringing it all together into a cohesive whole. Blending literature and history, the work is elegant and richly detailed, expansive and impassioned. It stands as a landmark in Chinese general history, following Cai Dongfan's works.
