An Unfilial Daughter's Slap, an Unfilial Son's Eighteen Dragon-Subduing Palms

[Ensemble cast + family life + military marriage] Zheng Haohao had been fortunate during the first half of her life. A country girl, she married Lu Zhenshen, an officer in the construction corps, had three sons and two daughters at an early age, and was assigned a job. Before long, she was living like a city resident. Just after turning forty, she had a prophetic dream. She dreamed that her husband, Lu Zhenshen, would die a week later, sending her life into a tailspin. She would raise their three underage children until they were grown. Thankfully, the eldest and second eldest were already adults, married, and employed. She would toil day and night to raise her children, then her grandchildren. But in the end, she would be left old and sick, with no children willing to pay for her treatment. She would die of starvation, alone in bed. Zheng Haohao awoke in terror from her prophetic dream. Just then, her future second daughter-in-law came to visit, and her second son said exactly what he had in the dream. She immediately chose to save her husband. Looking at her sharp-witted children right before her eyes, she realized the signs of the future she had seen were already there, and promptly decided to build a career of her own. The eldest threatens not to support her unless she buys him a house? The second complains she hasn’t given him enough to marry? The third falls for a hooligan, then gets angry at her for not stopping her from ruining her life? The fourth is good for nothing and steals money to pay for his girlfriend’s abortion? She’ll give them all a good beating first, then break their hearts with a little scheming. Luckily, the fifth is a sweet, dutiful child. Zheng Haohao became the Lu family’s untouchable matriarch, and she soon had every one of them wrapped around her little finger. Before long, she would be a successful businesswoman, buying grand houses and gold without a second thought, never again worrying about who would care for her in her old age.
