The Legend of Xiao Feng continues the martial-arts world of Jin Yong, telling the legendary adventures of Xiao Feng and A Zi after they survive their fall from a cliff. They plunge into a frigid pool, where a thousand-year ice silkworm reconnects their meridians and a cold jade bed heals them. A Zi even regains her sight and awakens the power to conjure Netherworld illusions. At the bottom of the pool, they discover a secret Khitan chamber and obtain the Seven Calamities of the Heavenly Wolf technique, along with the hidden truth behind the Treaty of Chanyuan. This draws them into a covert war between Song, Liao, and Jin.
Seeking the Shaolin Muscle-Tendon Transformation Classic to resolve the conflicting qi within him, Xiao Feng reunites with Bai Yu, a descendant of the Beggars' Sect, and becomes embroiled in a crisis that threatens to split the sect. Its new leader, You Tanzhi, has joined forces with Khitan remnants, sowing division within its ranks. Meanwhile, Western Xia's One-Pin Hall returns to the martial world, joining forces with the remnants of the Astral Sect to create an army of poison warriors. Murong Che, son of Murong Fu, uses the technique of “reversing cause and effect” to spark a war between Song and Liao in an attempt to restore his family's kingdom.
In the story, Xuzhu puts down a rebellion at the Spirit Vulture Palace, while Duan Yu defends the Heavenly Dragon Temple against Tibetan Tantric forces. The three join hands once more to thwart the conspiracies. Xiao Feng combines the Dragon Subduing Palms with the Muscle-Tendon Transformation Classic to create the Compassionate Dragon Subduing Palm. A Zi combines poison techniques with the power of the ice silkworm to create the Netherworld Flame-and-Frost Art, transforming herself from a wicked enchantress into a poison healer. In the end, everyone exposes Murong Che's plot at the Heroes' Gathering at Yanmen Pass. Xiao Feng becomes the leader of the martial world with his belief that “martial arts can end war,” bringing about peace talks between Song, Liao, and Jin. An encounter at the cold pool with a young Guo Jing also sets the stage for The Legend of the Condor Heroes, weaving together a grand tale in which the martial world and the fate of the realm mirror one another.
The story has ups and downs, and the details are well described. It's worth watching.
