After Returning to the Village, I Protect and Care for Beautiful Women with Emotional Support

After graduating from Kyoto University's psychology department, Mao She returns to the village of Liumang, reeling from the double blow of losing his job and his girlfriend. At an old ancestral shrine, he ends up living with Ning Jia, the heiress to a fortune who has been possessed by the village's guardian deity. Sitting beside the shrine's altar, Ning Jia is a girl with picture-perfect features, her bare feet resting on faded blue bricks. Without her finery, she looks like a fairy who has wandered into the human world.

Mao She doesn't know that this shrine, dedicated to an ancient spring god, has long since turned Ning Jia into a living sacrifice to protect the village. When villagers who have gone to the city for work are swept up by its temptations, their negative emotions surge back into the village like a tide, and his own despair and confusion become the most dangerous bait. The talisman between Ning Jia's fingers glows a bloody red as she presses a peachwood sword to his throat. “Your emotions are the fuel that keeps the village alive. Otherwise, this place will become a whirlpool that devours souls.”

Can a psychology prodigy and a mysterious village guardian deity uncover the truth behind the spring god's trial and save Liumang Village from the brink of ruin, as desire clashes with the urge to protect?
