The Blood-Sobbing Oriole

In Jiangcheng during the latter years of the War of Resistance, Lin Changfeng, a Communist underground operative codenamed "Nightingale," and Shen Qiuping, an agent of the Military Statistics Bureau, go from classmates to people separated by their convictions. They join forces to break a deadlock born of the Kuomintang's corruption and Japanese schemes. After enduring her father's wrongful conviction and betrayal by her organization, Shen Qiuping transforms from a loyalist of the Nationalist government into a Communist fighter. The two face life and death together during the "Cherry Blossom Plan" poison gas crisis. Shen Qiuping sacrifices herself to protect the core list, and Lin Changfeng carries on the fight in the name of her beliefs, composing a song of blood-red dawn from the covert front.
