Reborn, I Avoided Every Encounter with My Childhood Friend

After being reborn, I cut off all contact with my childhood sweetheart of my own accord. When he organized a class reunion, I stayed in bed, claiming to be ill. He stayed in our city to attend medical school, so I applied to study abroad. When I came home for the New Year, he invited me to dinner, but I took my parents on a trip instead. He transferred to the city where I worked, so I immediately applied for a research position that required me to live on-site. I didn't answer his calls or reply to his messages. I made a point of keeping my distance. In my previous life, I loved him for forty years and endured forty years of his cold shoulder. When we were in a car accident, I pushed him to safety, but I was left critically injured and paralyzed in bed. Holding his true love in his arms, he wept: “I almost lost you!” In the final moments of my life, he was busy celebrating her birthday. The daughter I had raised with so much hardship said, “Back then, you came between Dad and Aunt Meng. Don't you feel guilty?” I lay alone in the hospital, waiting to die. I never want to live such a miserable life again.
