Nature’s Gift

Heaven loathes humanity's evil and brings down punishment upon mankind. That punishment can wipe out entire clans. Yet Heaven also has compassion for people, and so it opens a path to survival. Out of Heaven's benevolence toward all living things, the World of Heavenly Spirits was opened. The disaster facing humanity is neither Heaven's punishment, nor a man-made calamity, nor an earthly evil. It is a struggle among all things. All things harbor hostility toward humanity, but only plants and trees are free of that animosity. This is humanity's disaster. But beasts lack spiritual intelligence, and all things naturally understand human intent. As the saying goes, all things follow laws: only by consuming spirits can they develop human intelligence. And what are spirits? Spirits are all things. This is the disaster, and this is the awakening. Awakening one's spirit can startle the physical body, and through it, one can command all spirits. The disaster belongs to humanity, while the awakening belongs to humanity. Beasts can consume all things to awaken their spirits; humans can command heaven and earth and contend for all spirits.
