The Empress Keeps Her Hands in Her Pockets, Unaware of Any Rival

Side Consort vs. Prince. The woman is not reborn, but the man is, and the male lead is completely love-struck. Zhou Xiyin was the only daughter of the Grand Princess and the emperor’s favorite niece. She had been chosen as the crown prince’s consort from an early age, but before the wedding, she discovered that the crown prince had kept a mistress who was now expecting his child. Furious, Zhou Xiyin immediately broke off her engagement to the crown prince and married Prince Jing, Ji Xuan. Ji Xuan already had a principal consort, so she could only take the position of side consort. Everyone thought she had made a terrible move and wanted to see her regret it. Instead, they were left green with envy. From the moment Zhou Xiyin entered the household, she was the sole object of Ji Xuan’s affection. He demoted everyone who was jealous of her and executed everyone who hurt her. The principal consort was no exception. With the principal consort gone, Zhou Xiyin became the mistress of Prince Jing’s household. From then on, she and Ji Xuan lived a life of deep passion and shameless intimacy, had children, seized the throne, and raised women’s status so they could serve as officials at court. A century later, the history books recorded that Empress Xiaoxuanwen, daughter of Grand Princess Zhaoyang, was renowned for her virtue and kindness, gentle, respectful, frugal, and warm-hearted. She established schools for women and raised their status, helping them leave their homes, earn a living, and become self-reliant. The most capable could even serve as officials and leave their names in history. With her support, the Xiaoxuan era flourished, the realm enjoyed peace, and all nations came to pay tribute. Little did anyone know that every bit of it had been won for her by Emperor Xiaoxuan himself. He had traded years of his life for the chance to be reborn and hold her in his arms once more.
