Livestreaming in Ancient Times: A Conversation with Wu Zetian from the Start

When actress Tian Mixi unexpectedly transmigrates, the course of her life is completely rewritten. An unprecedented live-action time-travel show, A Constellation of Brilliant Women in Chinese History, takes the world by storm. She will travel through time for real, meet extraordinary women from history such as Wu Zetian, Wang Zhaojun, and Li Qingzhao, and uncover the brilliance of women hidden in the folds of history. Facing Wu Zetian, she declares with conviction: “Posterity honors you as an empress for the ages. You were the first woman to rule as emperor!” Wu Zetian asks three questions that shake the world: “Have the women of later generations surpassed me? Has my dynasty endured for a thousand autumns? Do the people live in peace?” When she learns that China has flourished, this iron-fisted ruler weeps: “Though I bear the blame, I have no regrets!” In conversation with Wang Zhaojun, Tian Mixi travels to the night before her departure beyond the frontier: “You traded your life as a woman for peace between the Han and the Xiongnu. That was true courage and righteousness!” Beneath the lonely smoke rising over the desert, Zhaojun plays her zither through tears: “If I can end the fighting, what does it matter if I leave my home?” When thirty thousand women from later generations appear on the grasslands through holographic projection, the princess sent to marry for peace throws her head back and laughs: “So I was never alone!” In a study of the Song Dynasty, she faces Li Qingzhao: “People in later generations argue endlessly over your remarriage and the fact that you stopped writing in your later years.” The Revered One of Ease rises to her feet and slams the table: “To preserve your talent amid chaos is like guarding the gates of your country. That is the true spirit of a scholar!” When Tian Mixi shows her the achievements of modern women in scientific research, this celebrated poetess is moved to tears: “So women really can hold up half the sky!” During the live broadcast, 320 million viewers around the world witness this dialogue across history! The topic of Wu Zetian’s three questions ignites a cultural debate, and a wave celebrating “women’s strength” sweeps the internet! This story is dedicated to all the women’s souls who burned through the long night of history!
