Tales of the Azure Dragon Hero

In the third year of the Kaixi era of the Southern Song dynasty (1207), Yang Poyun, a descendant of the Yang family generals, becomes a fugitive after his father is implicated in a suspicious northern expedition. While investigating the truth behind his family’s massacre, he encounters Zhao Qinghui, a healer marked with an eerie seven-star tattoo. Together, they discover that the “Seven-Day Soul-Severing Powder” plague ravaging Lin’an is part of a shocking conspiracy orchestrated by the powerful minister Shi Miyuan in league with the Jin state.

As their investigation deepens, the seven-star tattoo leads them to the mystery of Crown Prince Jingxian’s sudden death twenty years earlier. The tattoo, now breaking down and festering on Zhao Qinghui’s skin, is not only connected to the Khitan royal bloodline◇but also resonates with the tiger tally that went missing during Emperor Guangzong’s reign. From Medicine King Valley to the Maritime Trade Office, from the Tea-Horse Ancient Road to the underground palace beneath the imperial city, secret documents hidden in government offices, including the Imperial Medical Bureau’s Forbidden Prescriptions and the Maritime Trade Office’s Secret Records, all point to Shi Miyuan’s faction secretly using the lifelines of the nation, from weapons and grain transport to minting coins, to smuggle in poison as part of a plot to murder the emperor and usurp the throne.
