The Great Zhou Dynasty has stood for more than two hundred years, occupying the most fertile lands of the Central Plains. To the north, the four nomadic peoples of Tusan, Xiyu, Huangbei, and Xiayi hold sway. The five territories keep one another in check, standing opposed to each other.
Yunchuan, the eldest princess of Tusan, grows up privileged, brave, and quick-witted, yet naively believes the realm is at peace. Forced into a struggle for power, she has no choice but to awaken and fight her way through the darkness after her people are wiped out.
Yuwen Xi, a princess of the Great Zhou, is framed as a child and flees to the northern desert. She intends to live out her days in obscurity, but then she meets Yunchuan, and the two feel as though they have known each other forever. Her fate is rewritten once more.
Their paths cross, and they become mirrors to one another. From saving each other to joining forces for revenge, how will they face the betrayal of family, the abandonment of lovers, the destruction of their clans, and the lure of power?
