This story follows two good friends, Liu Chengming and Li Tiecheng, who arrange marriages for their children when they are young. The two brothers, Liu Jinshan and Liu Baoshan, and the two sisters, Li Xueshan and Li Bingshan, are betrothed as children at their parents' arrangement. After the four grow up and marry, they experience all kinds of events in their daily lives and watch their children grow, with both sorrow and joy, happy occasions and misfortune. Through a series of twists and turns, they find their father's illegitimate son, their fourth brother, Liu Tongshan. Later, Liu Baoshan and his wife tragically pass away, and their five children are separated for many years for various reasons before finally reuniting. However, one brother and sister die in an accident. Fortunately, with their children's help, Liu Jinshan not only finds his long-lost third brother, Liu Yinshan, but also reunites with the three surviving children of his second brother and the only child of his third brother.
