The Movie Emperor Mistook Me for a Scammer

Su Haochen, the eldest son of the chairman of Su Media, is handsome, academically gifted, and heir to a wealthy family. In everyone’s eyes, he’s perfect, with only one possible flaw: he’s a little too aloof. No one knows that online, he’s a devoted fan of the award-winning actor Pei Jingyi. One day, Su Haochen received a private message from an unfamiliar Weibo account: [I’m Pei Jingyi’s private account. You seem to have something on your mind. Want to talk?] Su Haochen read it and sneered. A scammer’s trying to scam me? Do you even know who I am? Su Haochen: [Oh, actually, I’m Andy Lau’s private account.] The other person said it didn’t matter that he didn’t believe them yet, and the two of them kept chatting back and forth. At first, Su Haochen treated the scammer as someone to keep him entertained. But before long, he found himself thinking that the other person really was insightful and perceptive. So he cautiously tried to get closer to Pei Jingyi in real life, while freely venting to the scammer online about all sorts of things. As time went on, though, Su Haochen became more and more suspicious of the other person’s identity… “You liar!” “Does your hand hurt?” Pei Jingyi tenderly rubbed the hand Su Haochen had punched into his chest, looking utterly innocent. “I told you from the start that I was Pei Jingyi’s private account. How did I lie to you?” “…” Su Haochen realized that the most clever trick wasn’t to hide your secret identity, but to reveal it on purpose, knowing the other person would never believe you. That way, you can’t even accuse them of lying! In that case, he had no choice but to give in.
