City of Desire: The Power Games Behind the Glitter

Trouble began at home for Lin Xiao when several relatives came to his parents asking for money. When his parents refused, the relatives killed them. It was the weekend, and Lin Xiao and Lin Ya had returned home from school. They saw that the gate of the villa was still open, so they went inside and closed it behind them. Then Lin Xiao called out, “Mom! Dad! I'm home!” When no one answered, he looked puzzled and asked his younger sister, “Mom and Dad must have gone out, right? Why didn't they close the gate when they left?” Lin Ya looked just as confused. “Th-they probably did.” The moment they opened the door, Lin Xiao and Lin Ya caught a foul, rotten stench. They saw their parents lying in a pool of blood. Tears streamed down their faces as they stared at their parents' bodies. Lin Xiao shook them, sobbing, “Mom! Dad! Wake up! It's Lin Xiao! Wake up! Please, wake up!” Lin Ya cried, “Mom! Dad! It's Lin Ya! Please wake up!” A car pulled up outside. Their aunt got out and saw Lin Xiao outside. She called, “Xiao'er, Xiao Ya, open the door!” Lin Xiao went to let her in. The moment his aunt opened the door, she frowned at the stench and saw him crying. She hurried inside and found Lin Ya kneeling on the floor, shaking the bodies of her older brother and sister-in-law. Her aunt's eyes reddened. She tried to comfort them. “Xiao'er, Xiao Ya, don't cry. You still have me, your aunt. I'll take good care of you. Don't cry, Xiao'er, Xiao Ya...”
