The Secluded Path

(Both leads are reborn) In their previous lives, General You Congyu of Pingbei requested an imperial decree arranging his marriage to Yue Jiuqian. Though she already loved someone else, Yue Jiuqian married him unwillingly. For two years of marriage, he never touched her. Yue Jiuqian hated him for not loving her while robbing her of the happiness that had once seemed within reach. Only after the Yue family was framed and imprisoned did she learn that the love she had thought was mutual was nothing but a lie, a lie aimed at the Yue family. Her very origins were a lie. In the end, the Yue family could not escape execution. Heartbroken, she no longer wished to go on living. Only as she lay dying did she learn that he loved, cherished, and treasured her. On his way back to the capital, General You Congyu of Pingbei caught a fleeting glimpse of Yue Jiuqian, and she remained in his heart. When the emperor asked what reward he wanted, he blurted out that he wanted to marry her. He knew she hated him, resented him, and treated him with indifference. Still, he selfishly hoped that one day she might look at him just once. That would be enough for this lifetime. Yue Jiuqian: In this life, I will give him a chance. You Congyu: In this life, I will no longer hold her back. I will protect her, keep her safe, and let her have everything she wishes for.
