Journey West: The White Dragon's Book

The Journey West: White Dragon Book: An Epic of Hooves Beneath Dragon Scales

In the forgotten chapters of Journey to the West, the White Dragon Horse Ao Lie is more than a silent beast carrying the scriptures westward. He is a wanderer burdened by the fate of the dragon clan and the quest for his own redemption. Told from the White Dragon Horse’s first-person perspective, this novel reveals the untold secrets of the pilgrimage: from the Pearl Calamity beneath the coffered ceiling of the West Sea Dragon Palace, to six hundred years of loneliness at the bottom of Eagle Sorrow Ravine, where he devours the stars, and finally to his transformation into the white horse bearing Xuanzang. Every step is marked by the dragon clan’s blood and tears, and a longing for freedom.

Amid the shadow of Sun Wukong’s Golden Cudgel, Zhu Bajie’s wine-soaked nighttime tales, and the clang of Sha Wujing’s demon-subduing staff, the White Dragon Horse witnesses the pilgrimage team grow and learn to work together. Yet in every crisis, he challenges the shackles of fate in the form of a dragon. The peony blood of Baoxiang Kingdom, the glazed waters of Zhu Zi Kingdom, the ice fractures of Tongtian River... Each ordeal tempers the restless heart, and every transformation into a dragon raises questions about the very nature of existence.

When the bells of Thunderclap Monastery ring and he receives the title of Bodhisattva of Great Power, one of the Eight Divisions of Heavenly Dragons, has the White Dragon Horse truly found a home? Or is he still searching, on the endless road west, for a sky where he will no longer be bound? With poetic prose, this novel reimagines a dragon clan legend of freedom, redemption, and growth, inviting you on a journey of the soul across the Three Realms.
