Five hundred million years ago, Earth suffered its sixth cataclysmic disaster. Heaven and earth shattered, and all life was wiped out. Time flowed on, and after another five hundred million years of gestation, Earth underwent its seventh rebirth, ushering in a primordial age.
In the Hongmeng Taiyi Gourd Canyon, a gourd that had existed for ten thousand years in the Hongmeng realm drifted down to the southwestern lands. Weathered by heaven and earth, it took root and grew, forming a strange place on the southwestern frontier, cut off from the primordial world. Within the gourd, countless peaks vie in splendor, and innumerable valleys compete in wonder. It brings together grandeur, marvel, peril, seclusion, elegance, and beauty. Its circular mountain range pierces the clouds as if reaching straight into the immortal realm, forming an invisible barrier that separates it from the world. No matter how the primordial immortals and sages or ancient demons and monsters battle and vie for power, stirring up raging waves and making the mountains thunder, they know nothing of this secluded paradise beyond the world. Untouched by the rule of immortals and sages and shielded from the ravages of demons and monsters, it forms a carefree world of its own. The lofty immortals and sages and the demons and monsters who wage war against heaven and earth are both vexed and resentful, yet they can find no way in.
