Chronicles of a Mad World

In 2035, the world entered the "Age of Rules," and humanity was forced to take part in immersive reality shows ruled by AI. Each instance was a parallel version of the real world, and participants had to solve the rules on livestream to earn the right to survive.

When office drone Lin Shen joined the livestreamed show Survival in the Apocalypse, he suddenly started convulsing and shouting, "This game is way too realistic!" The System labeled him a "mad player" and granted him a special ability: he could read NPCs' true emotional values, rated from 1 to 7.

NPCs Awaken: The NPCs, who were supposed to be mere tools, suddenly went on strike en masse. A supermarket cashier brandished an AK-47 and yelled, "I've been exploited for five years!" while a delivery rider sped his motorcycle into a rules sign.

While the other players frantically stockpiled supplies, Lin Shen livestreamed himself doing a "crazy dance," stirring the NPCs' emotions. He unexpectedly unlocked the "Emotional Resonance" skill, making a rampaging horde of zombies break into a group square dance.
