In magical, ever-bustling Equestria, two ancient sages once ruled together. One was responsible for raising the sun, and the other for raising the moon.
But raising the sun and moon each time required enormous magic from the unicorns. Though the twin sages were unicorns with vast power, they still struggled under the burden.
Then Star Swirl met the alicorn sisters, who had the strength of earth ponies, the wings of pegasi, and the horns of unicorns to channel magic.
So the twin sages built a castle city in the heart of Equestria, Canterlot, so the princess sisters could take their place and rule the land.
After handing over their power, the twin sages drove out the villains who used powerful magic to wreak havoc across the land of ponies.
Then they encountered the mighty Yellow Demon. One sage died, and a monster was born, possessing the wisdom and magic of a sage.
It was powerful enough to change the world. It even defeated the princess sisters and Star Swirl, leaving the land of ponies in name only.
But the last sage found a powerful magical treasure: the Elements of Harmony.
With it, they defeated the monster that had nearly destroyed the land of ponies. From then on, no pony remembered the twin sages.
Yet what no pony expected was that the monster was slowly returning to the land of ponies from the shadows.
To gain even greater power, it went back to the past and created a host of extraordinary beings. All the while, it secretly drained their magic, gathering strength to wreak havoc once more.
A pony aspiring to be a knight, a blind pony who saw the world through darkness, one who tried to understand everything through loneliness. Yet many ponies who were destined to be lonely found friendship by chance.
