His Twenty-Ninth Year

[Younger top actor x older, obscure bottom | Healing | Reunited after a breakup | Complicated wealthy-family schemes | Team-up revenge] “Back then, why… did you leave?” He was still trying hard to keep himself from screaming and roaring like a madman. “I’m sorry… I just… ran away.” Yun Cheng answered, but his words were vague. He couldn’t explain the details. The person beside him only took a deep breath and said nothing, as if waiting for him to go on. “I just couldn’t give you the life I’d promised… I couldn’t accept the version of myself who’d failed for so long… I hated who I was then.” “But I loved you.” Li Shu Jin suddenly spoke, his voice calm, even carrying a nostalgic smile. He was as wonderful as he had been five years ago. He said “loved” with utmost care, but Yun Cheng couldn’t help wondering what there had been about his past self worth loving. “I loved… everything about that time.” Truthfully, Li Shu Jin had no particular dream or passion. He only wanted Yun Cheng to be happy. But he hadn’t understood back then that Yun Cheng had never been happy during those days. He had only pretended to be. He’d only thought he was happy.
