Showbiz: I Win Sympathy, Then Astonish the World with My Singing

Chu Yunxuan accidentally transmigrates to a parallel world and takes the stage on the talent show New Generation, chasing his dream of making music. But from the start, his company scripts a sob story for him, hoping to win the audience’s attention.

Onstage, when all the viewers are used to contestants shamelessly playing up their misfortunes for sympathy, Chu Yunxuan begins his performance. “My parents died when I was little, and an old man from the mountains took me in. Grandpa was eighty, but every day he still had to ride forty kilometers to the county town to collect scrap and raise me. But one day, while he was out collecting scrap, Grandpa was hit by a car and passed away…” Yet halfway through his sob story, he suddenly bursts out laughing. “Hahaha, I’m really sorry, I couldn’t keep a straight face. It’s my first time playing the victim, so I’m not very good at it.”
