The story centers on Fengming No. 1 High School, following the high school lives of several students, including Zhang Mengying, Xiaowen, and Fu Ying, and tracing their transformation from youthful dreams to a sense of responsibility as they grow up.
On an autumn day, Fengming No. 1 High School is alive with youthful energy. Zhang Mengying, full of hopes for the future, meets Xiaowen and Fu Ying, beginning her high school years. When the students choose academic tracks in their second year, Zhang Mengying chooses science to explore its mysteries, while Xiaowen chooses the humanities to pursue a literary dream. Each sets off firmly toward their goals.
At school, Zhang Mengying often sees Fu Ying and Li Meng sharing sweet moments as a couple, while she has her own complicated feelings. The three of them arrange to climb Fengming Mountain, admire the camellias, and make promises of youth. But the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake shatters the peace, throwing the Fengming No. 1 High School campus into chaos as teachers and students evacuate in an orderly fashion. After the quake, the city is plunged into grief. They organize a fundraiser, showing their sense of responsibility as kindness is passed from one person to another.
Fu Ying and Li Meng grow closer while fundraising, but as academic pressure mounts, they set their relationship aside for the time being to focus on the college entrance exams. Senior year arrives, and tension fills the campus. Everyone gives their all to prepare, while Li Qin quietly nurses a crush on Fu Ying. Zhang Mengying works hard in science and Xiaowen in the humanities, and their classmates encourage one another and grow together through mock exams.
In the days before the college entrance exams, everyone makes a tense final push. When the exams arrive, they enter the examination rooms full of confidence. Once the exams are over, they return to campus and reminisce about the past. When the results are announced, they are all accepted into the universities they had hoped for. At their graduation gathering, they laugh and cry, promising to keep in touch. Years later, their high school days remain their most precious memories. The earthquake taught them the meaning of life, and as they grew up...
