A derivative story based on the TV series Deep Dive. Angst warning!
Shanghai, 1939. Underground operatives from our party carry out the Gold Seizure Plan, secretly taking a shipment of gold from Japanese agents to deliver to the liberated areas of northern Jiangsu. But a traitor within the team leads to the murder of their contact in northern Jiangsu, and the gold vanishes. Yun Hongshen and Wen Yeming are assigned by Station Chief Ke Jingping to secretly investigate the gold's whereabouts in Shanghai. But a traitor at the Shanghai station sells them out, and they are captured by Japanese agents from Unit 76.
A word up front:
The TV series never gave me quite enough angst, so to indulge my “wicked” little wish, I've decided to write a short story. If you're okay with the characters acting out of character and the leads losing brain cells, read on. Expect a bloody, sweet, and heartbreaking ride.
The story has little connection to the TV series' plot. It borrows some of its settings, but the story and structure are entirely my own. This is my first story set in the Republican era, so please go easy on me.
It's super good-looking. I got it from the Lotus Tower fanfic. That one is super good-looking too 😳 The author is great. I also want to read Chen Xiang's Tang and Zhou abuse novels 😳
Beautiful, Zhenzhen's writing has never let me down
Good-looking, good-looking, good-looking
Good-looking, strong, miserable and beautiful
