[Tomb Raiding + Suspense + No System]
Twenty years ago, my grandfather went to prison for robbing the tomb of the King of Yangyue.
Ten years ago, my father was executed by firing squad for robbing a late Shang tomb that held a baby spy.
I’m the last surviving member of the Zhang family’s southern branch, and as a descendant of the Mountain-Moving Daoist sect, my veins run with the blood of tombs.
When I took up my ancestors’ burden, I was shocked to discover that they had been seeking the secrets of primitive humans: animal husbandry, sacrificial rites, and immortality. Put simply, those secrets came down to four words: generation, overcoming, transformation, and control.
The bird-and-insect script records: “The eyelids of those born from the womb close from top to bottom; those hatched from eggs close from bottom to top. Those born from moisture have no eyelids, while those born through transformation have no eye sockets. Fish do not close their eyes; chickens are fond of sidelong glances; dragons cannot see stone, and fish cannot see water.”
