Twin Bloodlines: The Bride in the Wrong Place

A new story about leukemia and cross-dressing. [This novel is entirely fictional] Preface In the steaming mists above the Red River, the cloying sweetness of honey and the bitter stench of poppies weave together into a knot of fate. When a seventeen-year-old boy puts on an embroidered Miao outfit and silicone breast forms crush the last traces of his boyishness, he has no idea that he is stepping into a bloody game of chess spanning twenty years. In the hospital corridors of this border town, disinfectant and the scent of camellias mingle beneath the watchful eye of surveillance cameras. Forged records of throat surgery breathe in the database, while 3D-printed cartilage fragments glint among medical waste. Every carefully crafted flaw is a lie woven by hunter and prey alike. And the girl in a school uniform, slipping through the darkroom, uses fixer to wash the negatives of her double life. The person she is protecting is a stranger connected to her by blood. From the stilt houses of Baiyan Village to the drug den of the Zhoutian Group, the clink of silver ornaments conceals dangers deadlier than a gun’s action. When silicone inside a fake bra turns aside a blade, and the nuptial wine at a wedding banquet is mixed with blood for a bone marrow transplant, the two young people whose genders were rewritten by fate will finally tear open the raw wound called “family” amid the thorns of blood ties and lies.
