Also known as: The Buddha Speaks, A New Interpretation of the Buddhist Sutras. These are some of my own reflections and interpretations, and I hope they will be helpful to you. In this Age of Dharma Decline, people no longer hold fast to their inner selves and have begun seeking outwardly. As a result, their inner lives have grown impoverished. The root cause is attachment to external things: people feel content when their material and spiritual needs are met, and resentful when they are not. In this way, the few beautiful qualities they once possessed, such as inner peace, calm, tolerance, and understanding, have gradually faded away.
From 2025 to 2035, a decade of intense competition will begin, and society will be filled with upheaval and change. The scale, thoroughness, and speed of these changes are unprecedented in history, a transformation on a scale not seen since the beginning of time. The pace of change is astonishing, with something new happening every day. In September 2024, the second half of the year, the 20-year Period of the Purple Nine Fire Element began, part of the Lower Cycle's Nine Periods. Women are beginning to awaken.
The Buddhist sutras say that practice is difficult in the Age of Dharma Decline. Male beings become trapped in lust, abusive speech, reckless actions, and other ignorant misdeeds, unable to free themselves, so their lives grow shorter and long-lived people become exceedingly rare. Women, by contrast, can remain steadfast despite difficulty (steadfast means not changing easily: holding firm to their convictions without wavering) and practice diligently. As a result, they can advance without falling back, find peace of mind, and even extend their lifespans.
That is why I have written this humble work, colored by my own biases, in the hope that it may offer you some insight into your inner life. The Fire Element Period, women's awakening: these are your opportunity, blessing, wholesome affinity, and karmic connection. I hope you will treasure them and not let yourself, your circumstances, or this endless cycle of rebirth go to waste.
