(Sharp-tongued but honest × smooth and charming)
The general is famous throughout the land, yet knows nothing of worldly affairs and has no idea what it means to be caught up in the mortal world. He lives alone in the mountains only because the nation is at peace and there is no battlefield for him to serve on. Like a heavenly general who has strayed into the mortal realm, he has nothing left to do but drink and question the heavens. But now rumors spread of a murderous fiend, and the people live in terror. The emperor seizes the opportunity to summon the general out of retirement, despite his reluctance to enter politics. He hopes the general will vanquish the fiend and rekindle his old ambitions, bringing some color back into his life. Meanwhile, the wandering swordsman Situ Sheng takes the opportunity to invite the general along. He, too, wants to see the killer’s true face, but he shares a history with the general, who eventually discovers his identity. Should the general betray the world, or betray one person? What will he choose?
