Lord Keeper of the Seal, Your Daughter’s Off Looking for Her Mother Again!

Everyone knows that He Ning, the chief eunuch who holds the imperial seal, is cold-hearted, ruthless, and sinister. His one weakness is the only child of his own blood, a little girl named He Ying. The ministers scoff: “She’s just a little girl. What trouble could she possibly cause?” But before long, they discover that He Ying is a mischievous little thing, her bright eyes always spinning with schemes! One moment, she offers her father a “brilliant plan” to deal with his political rivals. The next, she gives him a “surprise” that leaves him laughing and crying at once. She always manages to accomplish great things when nobody expects it, and she’s very good at making trouble for people. When a censor falsely accuses her father of deceiving the emperor, she makes him so furious with a silly little poem that he has a stroke. When a prince throws mud at her, she sets a trap that sends him tumbling off his horse and rolling in the dirt. When the Imperial Preceptor plots against her, she nearly burns him to a crisp. The ministers declare: “That girl really is just like her father. They’re both rotten to the core!” Later, her father’s power comes to dominate the court. The ministers panic: “Did that little menace just lose a hair? This is terrible. We have to make sure her father doesn’t find out!” He Ying has known since childhood that her mother died an unnatural death. Then, after an unexpected incident, she catches sight of her mother. The soft, adorable little girl immediately grabs her father with one hand and her mother’s sleeve with the other. “Mother, you’re finally back!”
