If Only We Had Met at First Sight

My fiancée had always had an excellent memory and never forgot anything. But when I proposed, she forgot to hold out her hand for the diamond ring. When we went to register our marriage, she forgot her household registration booklet. On our wedding day, she forgot she was supposed to show up. She was busy rescuing her childhood sweetheart’s wedding at the venue next door. My mother saw it and had a heart attack right there. I begged my fiancée to come explain herself at my mother’s bedside, but she sweetly linked arms with her childhood sweetheart’s mother and called her “Mom,” claiming I was just a persistent suitor who wouldn’t leave her alone. Later, I arranged my mother’s funeral by myself and applied for an overseas posting. When I got home to pack, my fiancée, fresh from her honeymoon with her childhood sweetheart and looking perfectly content, smiled at me: “Shen Hong, how is your aunt feeling? Let’s pick another auspicious wedding date and make her happy.” She didn’t know that from the moment my mother died, there could never be anything between us again.
