The Abused Consort

When I was ten, the crown prince rescued me from a brothel madam, sparing me the fate of becoming a prostitute.

I fell in love with him and saw him as my salvation.

When the crown princess framed him and he was captured by the enemy, I risked my life to rescue him.

To protect him on the journey back to the capital, I acted like a madwoman, kowtowing and begging for food.

Before a Buddha statue in a ruined temple, he promised that if we made it safely to the capital, he would marry me.
