This is a world where the three schools stand side by side. The Confucians govern the secular world, ruling through rites and music; the Buddhists cultivate their minds and seek enlightenment and liberation; the Daoists live in seclusion in the mountains, exploring the truths of longevity and nature. Yet for thousands of years, the three schools have maintained a peaceful facade while secretly vying for power, each acting on its own and long divided.
The protagonist, Jiang Chen, is born into a Confucian family. He should have inherited his family's glory and protected the peace of his home region. But after a sudden calamity, his family falls into ruin, and he is left homeless. While wandering, he happens upon the scriptures of Buddhism and Daoism and meets masters from all three schools. He discovers what their philosophies have in common and learns the truth behind their conflicts.
In this world, cultivation is divided into ten realms. Jiang Chen chooses a path no one has ever tried: uniting the three schools. He uses the Confucian desire to engage with the world to resolve its troubles, Buddhist methods of self-cultivation to overcome inner demons, and Daoist nonaction to command the transformations of heaven and earth. As he advances along a path of both political intrigue and cultivation, he must face powerful enemies on every side and carve out a way forward through the entrenched forces of each school.
This is the final battle between the three schools, as well as Jiang Chen's journey from an ordinary man to a sage. As all methods return to one and the three paths resound as one, he will reshape the order of this world through his own strength.
