Dao Yuan, the seventeenth-generation master of Tiezhu Temple, once saved a black dog as a child. Little did he know that the dog would one day become Xuan Di, the wolf demon who devoured the moon and terrorized the mortal world. Yet, remembering the kindness that had saved its life, Xuan Di willingly allowed itself to be sealed beneath the temple. Dao Yuan and his disciple Ling Xizi often recited scriptures and taught the wolf demon, helping it cultivate its character. They also made it promise never to wreak havoc in the mortal world again. But after Dao Yuan and his disciple passed away, Xuan Di went on a rampage. Fortunately, the new master, Dao Xuan, and the elders managed to reseal the wolf demon using a life-for-five exchange, though a remnant of its soul still escaped.
Before long, a plot against Dao Xuan led to his death. A thousand years later, Xuan Di's lingering soul revived and grew stronger by feeding on human malice. Meanwhile, Dao Xuan's remnant soul awoke inside a peachwood pendant and became bound to Li Yunfei, a young Taoist in the modern world. Together, they set out on an urban demon-hunting quest to capture the fragments of the wolf demon's soul. Their path is full of challenges, but hidden opportunities await as well. See how they continue the legendary tale of Taoists and demons amid the bustle of the city.
