Beneath the seemingly ordinary campus of Beishi in Southeast Asia, turbulent undercurrents swirl. Li Aotian is an outstanding student with a twisted heart. Desperate for attention and utterly self-centered, he resorts to extreme measures to draw the public’s eye. His mother, Chen Lina, is a popular livestreamer who is so devoted to her career that she neglects him.
During a class meeting, homeroom teacher Li Minghui fails to give Li Aotian enough attention, leaving him dissatisfied. In an attempt to get noticed, Li Aotian joins forces with the timid, introverted Liu Ziqian. Together, they accidentally kill Li Minghui’s daughter, Lele. After the Beishi Investigation Bureau gets involved, Chen Lina manipulates edited surveillance footage to turn the truth on its head, leading to the investigators’ suspension. Grief-stricken and furious, Li Minghui sets out to take revenge.
In the new semester, Liu Ziqian and Li Aotian are caught up in Li Minghui’s revenge. Li Aotian makes it to the finals of an elite university selection as the top-ranked student, and becomes entangled in a romantic mess with Zhang Wanrou, who has a crush on him. Chen Lina uses the opportunity to livestream sales, but after an anonymous letter causes Li Aotian’s admission ranking to drop, he devises a sinister plan to eliminate his only rival, Zhang Wanrou. Instead, it leads to Liu Ziqian getting into an argument with Zhang Wanrou, and Zhang suffers an accident. The whole thing is broadcast in Chen Lina’s livestream. It turns out Li Minghui had already installed cameras to keep watch, and the truth finally comes to light.
Afterward, the Beishi Investigation Bureau reopens the case. Li Aotian struggles frantically as he is pushed to the brink, but justice ultimately prevails and he receives the punishment he deserves. The survivors slowly begin to heal from their trauma, bringing this tragic story of youth to a somber close.
