Tomb Raiders: Tales of the Republic of China

The Grave-Robbing Captains: Turmoil in the Republic of China is a novel by the pen name Jinshangu. Set amid the chaos and upheaval of the Republic of China, it follows Jinshangu and his wife Xu Le, along with Hu Kui and his wife Ren Jing. Descendants of the Grave-Robbing Captains, they possess secret family techniques and have lived quietly among ordinary people. When the Northern Expedition begins and the country is torn apart, a twist of fate leads them to join the National Revolutionary Army and form a special operations unit of Grave-Robbing Captains.

On the battlefield, they use their ancestral skills to locate dragon veins, explore hidden tombs, and disarm mechanisms. They open secret routes for the troops, deliver vital intelligence amid a hail of bullets, and infiltrate enemy strongholds to turn the tide of battle. They become an unexpected asset to the Northern Expedition Army and earn great distinction.

But after the Northern Expedition’s victory, the situation changes abruptly. Their unconventional methods and commitment to justice put them at odds with the conservative forces in the army, and they face relentless exclusion. Under mounting pressure, the four resolutely leave the military and return to ordinary life. From then on, they put conflict behind them and begin peaceful lives of their own, far from the clamor of the world. All that remains is a legendary story forged in the flames of war, passed down through the generations.
