Even though every opportunity carries risks, she didn't want to let one like that pass her by. It was her dream. Only later did she realize it might have been just a job, just a career. But at the time, she truly believed it was what she wanted from life. If competition was unavoidable, she wouldn't run from it, even if the opportunity itself was a trap.
