The Leopard of the East African Savanna

“The East African savanna, a wild and dangerous place.

A leopard crouches low and comes toward me, step by step.

It sniffs me, then licks my wounds with its barbed tongue.

‘Hey, you smell so good. Want to be my mate?’

Am I imagining things?

Why can I hear this leopard talking?

The leopard in front of me lies on the ground, licking the fur on its paw.

I bend down slightly, hardly believing my eyes. ‘Mr. Cheetah, was that you talking?’

As soon as I finish speaking, the leopard in front of me growls.

‘Look carefully, female. I’m a leopard, not that useless cheetah!’”
