The Path to Kindling the Divine Flame

After the Year of Upheaval, the gods of the Prime Material Plane inevitably found themselves in dire straits. Some of the greater gods could remain awake at a low level of activity, occasionally sending down divine revelations, but the intermediate gods had fallen into a deep slumber. Of course, compared with the lesser and demigods who had fallen from their divine thrones, this was already the best outcome. Neither the fallen gods nor those who had once been mighty were willing to accept the new division of power. A fresh wave of assassinations, conspiracies, and schemes was beginning. The churches of the gods were also caught up in the undercurrents, openly or secretly competing for followers across the planes. Ate is the first in line to inherit the throne of a small kingdom. Before he can become king, his illegitimate older brother tries to have him killed. Our story begins when young Ate flees the palace and arrives at a monastery. What follows is the epic tale of how Ate rises from an ordinary mortal, gathering faith step by step, kindling divine fire, forging a divine core, and raising his own divine realm as he ascends to godhood.
