The Shadow Agent of Republican-Era China

Lin Feng, a young man from the modern era, accidentally transmigrates to a time rife with espionage. He takes over the body of “Shadow,” an underground Party operative with the potential to assume multiple identities. He has barely arrived when he faces a crisis at a rendezvous, but his knowledge of historical details gets him through by the skin of his teeth. Entering the Kuomintang-Communist Struggle As the situation shifts and the Wang Jingwei regime begins to fall, Lin Feng is assigned by the organization to make contact with a branch of the Kuomintang’s Military Statistics Bureau. He exploits the hostility between the two sides, provoking clashes between the bureau and Japanese agents. Amid the chaos, he obtains intelligence on the flow of American aid to China and secretly helps improve life in the liberated areas. Turmoil and Upheaval The Chinese Civil War Breaks Out The risk of his identity being exposed soars, and Lin Feng becomes a thorn in the Military Statistics Bureau’s side. He stages a defection and hands over false intelligence to mislead the Kuomintang’s military deployments, causing its forces to lose a key battle. While undercover at a radio station hidden in the mountains, he evades several encirclement campaigns and joins forces with local militias to open a covert supply route, delivering weapons to the guerrillas. A Mission Involving Top-Secret Intelligence He obtains the Kuomintang’s city defense plans, but the Bureau of Investigation and Statistics intercepts them midway. Lin Feng becomes a double agent, stirring up infighting among both sides’ spies. Using his wits, he recovers the plans and adds crucial false information before passing them on, helping the People’s Liberation Army surround and capture the city.
