Bone-Deep Fragrance

I was born exceptionally beautiful, with a strange fragrance about me.

The Noble Consort feared I might seduce the Emperor and steal his favor, so she sent me to scrub the palace’s tribute buckets.

I bore her no resentment. I remained devoted to her, helping her win the Emperor’s favor, and even offered her a childbirth potion made by scraping the bones from my own body when she wanted to bear an heir.

At last, the Noble Consort let down her guard around me. Delighted, she held the little prince and rewarded me with a thousand taels of gold.

I only smiled faintly and refused the reward, my gaze fixed on the little prince.

The little prince is looking more and more like me.
