Mermaid's Tears

Long ago, the merfolk lived beyond the Five Realms. They dwelled in water like fish and never ceased their weaving. Their tears became pearls, and their voices could bewitch anyone who heard them. Charm, gravely wounded by a soul-stealing hairpin, went in search of a merfolk pearl to heal himself and find a chance to survive. But who could have guessed he would meet Yunyan, a blind merfolk? Yunyan had never been tainted by the ways of the world. He was innocent and kind, nothing like Charm. Charm told him he was Yunyan's tear demon, and Yunyan believed him. Charm said he could stay by Yunyan's side forever, and Yunyan believed him too. Charm said he would take Yunyan to experience every flavor the world had to offer, and Yunyan still believed him... In the end, sweet, trusting Yunyan melted Charm's heart. His wounds hadn't healed, and now he'd lost his heart as well. He truly regretted it. He regretted not being stronger, not living a few more days. Even one more day would have been enough. He wanted to become Yunyan's eyes, so his Yunyan could see a glimmer of light in the world. The Mermaid's Tears P.S. Happy ending.
