Reborn in 1998: A Different Ending This Time

Do you think there can be lasting resentment between a father and daughter?

I can solemnly tell you that there can.

My adopted daughter, Fu Hongying, and I have held a grudge against each other for twenty years.

Twenty years ago, my first wife and I went to an orphanage and adopted Fu Hongying because we wanted a child.

More than ten years later, I failed to stay true to myself and had an affair. My first wife lost her life because of it.

I thought my daughter didn’t know the truth, but twenty years later,

when I was helpless in a hospital bed, dependent on an oxygen machine to keep me alive, my daughter came to see me. I was overjoyed.

After all, she had been cold toward me for the past twenty years.

But then my daughter told me a shocking truth: she had always known exactly how my first wife died.

Looking at the hatred on my daughter’s face, I regretted everything. I regretted not treating my first wife well.

I had also failed to raise my daughter properly, letting her grow into an extreme person.

Later, the police really did arrest me. As I watched them take me away, I was filled with remorse…

I closed my eyes in regret and wept, but when I opened them again, I was reborn.

I was overjoyed. From the start, I would make sure things turned out differently…
