After Our Identities Were Switched, the Real Heiress Became Empress

Wen Zhaoxue had been the beloved darling of the Duke Yansheng’s household for fourteen years, until she was told she had been switched at birth with the Ming Prince’s daughter. Since they’d been switched, they would simply switch back. But as soon as she returned to her real family, the relatives who had once held her and wept with joy at their reunion became unrecognizable. Her mother only had eyes for Shen Yunhua, who had taken her place. Her sisters saw her as a rival, and her own brother treated her like an enemy. They even forced her to marry a violent and unpredictable prince, until she died of sheer exhaustion. Her loving parents were killed by bandits, her doting grandparents died suddenly, and even her fiancé became the husband of the princess who had switched places with her. Using the power of both families, he ascended to the throne. Only on the verge of death did she discover that the whole story of the real and fake daughters had been Shen Yunhua’s scheme! Reborn on the day of her coming-of-age banquet, she thought, “You want to switch marriages? Fine.” She would make the exchange: the living for the dead, the healthy for the disabled. She would also keep her family safe and sound. Sounds good. But after Wen Zhaoxue merely lost her way, she found herself stuck with a certain clingy prince. The prince: With so many people around, why did she get lost and bump into me instead of someone else? She must like me. Wen Zhaoxue choked on a snack and teared up. The prince: She must be afraid I’ll reject her. Since she likes me so much, I suppose I can like her a little too. Wen Zhaoxue handed out food and porridge to refugees. The prince: She came all this way just to see me? I’m so touched. She really does like me. I’ll ask Father and Mother to arrange our marriage! Wen Zhaoxue cared for the Empress while she was ill. The prince: Sniffle, she’s even being so dutiful to Mother for my sake. I want to marry her right now! And so Wen Zhaoxue, who had planned to serve as a female official for the rest of her life, became the Crown Princess instead. “Good heavens, who can I even complain to?”
