Young Master, Please Take Your Medicine

[Ancient setting, transmigration, lovesick obsession, mild coercion]

Ye Wan, a modern young woman, was nearing the end of her life. She died in a hospital bed, and when she opened her eyes again, she found herself in an unknown alternate era.

The good news: She was alive again.

The bad news: She was now a six-year-old girl unloved by both her father and mother, and she was on her way to being sold. The buyer was an old bachelor.

Ye Wan: How could she put up with that?

So she ran away, but before she could celebrate, she fainted from hunger.

The good news: Someone rescued her, and he was a doctor. Could this be a golden finger from heaven? Ye Wan immediately dropped to her knees. “Master! I’ll be your most devoted disciple.”

The bad news: Medicine was vast and profound. Even after ten years of study, she still hadn’t graduated, and her master’s wife was planning to marry her off. She’d already picked out a family.

Ye Wan went into runaway-bride mode.

But her escape got off to a bad start. On the very first day, she was kidnapped. Her captors threw her in front of the bed of a sickly young master and made their demand: Cure him, and you live. Fail, and you die.

The young master was frail and beautiful. A physician’s heart (not really) and a knack for reading the room meant Ye Wan swore at once to do her very best.

Later, she did cure him.

Ye Wan looked at the ropes around her wrists with a slight tremble, then at his sinister smile.

Young master, are you into this sort of thing?

A scene from daily life

Ye Wan carried over a bowl of medicine steaming with black fumes and smiled. “Young master, it’s time to take your medicine.”

The next day

The young master had taken one sip, and the medicine had worked a little too well. Ye Wan, who’d stayed up all night with him, was crouched pitifully beside the bed.

Young master: (coldly) “Change the prescription.”

Ye Wan: “Okay!”
