Reborn as Da Yuer, Empress Dowager Xiaozhuang

Reborn as Xiaozhuang: Dayu'er tells the story of Dayu'er returning to her youth after being reborn. She is haunted by painful memories of Fulin leaving her, Dorgon dying with regrets, and her own lonely struggle in the depths of the palace. When Hong Taiji comes to Khorchin to choose a consort, the wheels of fate begin turning once more. Dayu'er refuses to repeat the past and begs her aunt, Zhezhe, for help, but to no avail. At various banquets and events, Dayu'er meets Hong Taiji, and complicated feelings stir within her. Meanwhile, Dorgon cares for Dayu'er deeply, and the two resolve to defy fate rather than let themselves be controlled. They try to influence their families’ decisions, tell Hong Taiji how they feel, and seek help from others. But their actions draw Hailanzhu’s attention, and she hints to Hong Taiji that Dayu'er and Dorgon have an improper relationship. The two are placed under house arrest, but they refuse to give up in the face of adversity. Through the efforts of many people, they regain their freedom. The experience strengthens their bond and their resolve to change their fate.
