"The Secret History of Xiaozhuang" tells the story of Dayu'er's magnificent life. Dayu'er was born in the Horqin Banner of Mongolia and was known as "the most beautiful woman in Manchuria and Mongolia". She and Dorgon were childhood sweethearts and promised each other for life, but she was accepted by Huang Taiji as a side blessing. After the death of Huang Taiji, Dorgon supported Dayu'er's son Fulin to the throne, and he became the regent. Da Yuer had a difficult choice between her lover and her beloved son, and finally sacrificed love for her family. Dorgon died of sadness and despair. Fulin was disheartened because his beloved concubine died of illness, and wanted to become a monk, but Dayu'er tried to persuade him to no avail. In the end, she established her young grandson Xuanye as emperor, named Kangxi, and created a prosperous era for the Qing Dynasty.
