Exploring the Ural Mountains

Guan Gen discovers a mysterious notebook at a flea market, and the story begins. My name is Guan Gen. By chance, I found an old notebook at an unremarkable stall in a flea market. Its cover was yellowed and its corners worn, but the name “Dyatlov,” written in gold ink, made my heart race. A First Look at the Notebook I carefully opened it, as if opening a door to the past. On the first page, Dyatlov had written in somewhat hurried handwriting: “January 1959. The nine of us, filled with longing for the unknown, set off on an expedition to the Ural Mountains. Our goal was to conquer Mount Otorten and then trade in our second-class mountaineering certificates for third-class ones.”
