Gazing North at the Mountains and Rivers, I Fall Silent

[Dominant POV, everyone is wicked, sweet romance, coming-of-age] Gentle, doting pursuer / beautiful, innocent beloved War turns boys into stinking corpses and girls into prostitutes at the mercy of anyone who wants them. Born in a time of chaos, born at the wrong time. They struggle to survive in a blood-soaked world, every step over thorns, every step leaving a trail of blood. Blood sprays through the air, and shattered glass reflects mottled light. They are already covered in wounds. To avoid drowning, they must rise to the surface atop heaps of bones and seize a chance to live. The roar of war, dirt flying everywhere, blood and sweat mingling. With snowmelt on their hands, they wipe away blood and tears, huddling close to share warmth. It is an age of chaos, a country and a home. They live on through the bombardment; only death can set them free. (A fictional Republic-era setting / compassionate realism / both pursuer and beloved are wicked people)
